Courtney and Erik first met six years ago at a club in Mexico. They hit it off well enough that upon returning to the States they sought out each other and attended their respective proms with the other as their date.

Pure Evil

Encouraged by two successful proms, the couple decided to keep the good times rolling. Next up was "Up." 
(ie. the worst date ever)

Utterly dubious

Long story short, Erik arrived late and without money, Courtney purchased her own ticket, and the two entered the film thirty minutes after the opening scene. They drove home in painful silence, and did not see each other again (except for awkward rendezvous in the university cafeteria, and eventually in the bar scene). 

This 'worst date ever' story quietly made its rounds throughout their respective circles, until a pair of mutual friends made startling discovery. Samantha and Bridget, having both heard the story, began connecting the dots. They plotted a sly scheme, and separately had Erik & Courtney record their 'worst date ever' renditions. These two recording were then stitched together for their Comms class (for which they got an A). 

This side-by-side storytelling was uploaded to the interwebs (listen to it below), and by doing so, Bridget and Samantha unintentionally "rekindled the flame". 

After listening to the recording, Erik jokingly began texting Courtney, laughing about the hilarious stunt their friends had pulled. In a hopeless effort, Erik invited Courtney to his upcoming date party, and was shocked by her acceptance.

Shortly after the date party, the two began dating. The relationship was moving smoothly and everyone was happy. However, things were too calm, so fate stepped in and threw Isla into the mix, turning the old playground song on its head.

"First comes love, 

then comes baby,

 then comes marriage, 

and a honeymoon, maybe."

And as the wise Natasha Bedingfield once sang, "The rest is still unwritten..."
